What to know
Before you choose
Short answers to the questions we hear most about salves & balms.
What is a salve?
A salve is a semi-solid blend of plant oils and wax, usually beeswax, often made with herb-infused oil. It has little or no water, so it's richer than a lotion. Read the full guide below.
What is dandelion salve used for?
Most people keep it for dry, rough, chapped areas such as hands, heels, elbows and knuckles. It's a cosmetic moisturizer. For a wound, rash or skin condition, see a clinician.
How do I use a salve?
Warm a small amount between your fingertips until it melts slightly, then press it into dry skin. A little goes a long way.
Storage
Keep it below about 75°F and out of direct sun. Beeswax salves soften in heat and firm up again when cool.
